Thanks for your notes about "WNANT" (and I'm not sure I found all your notes!). I guess I wrote most of the story, but it was a collaborative effort and I was really trying to respect the other contributors. There is a jumble of stuff in [[WNANT/6]] that I do not really like, but I felt bad about deleting anything from other authors of the story.....so I just gave up....I ended up feeling that some contributions from others were really not intended to be constructive. I got involved with other wiki projects and yada yada yada never got back to this wiki. Will I be able to continue working on "WNANT"? I'm not sure. It would be nice to have a collaborator. --[[User:JWSchmidt|JWSchmidt]] 02:31, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Greetings Davichito,

The page you'll want to edit is MediaWiki:Monaco.css . Try copying the code from this site's relevant page and pasting it there, then refresh your browser. Oh, and set your preferences. If you're unsure, then use User:Davichito/Monaco.css .

Hope that helps, YZHSig.png   19:54, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

I wouldn't say everyone does sockpuppeting, as far as it can be ascertained, only 3 people did that, Yun, but only for a while and apparently for what he thought was a very good reason, Dark Assassin, a while ago, and you, with Osirus. As for everybody else, it's better to assume they aren't, instead of otherwise. I, for one, never do it, there are certain social rules a person has to adhere to some times for the good of the community. Like the "Cannibalism is a no-no" rule built-in in Western culture. Imagine how the world would be if everyone disregarded that rule? You wouldn't be able to walk on the streets without fearing being eaten by someone. Let alone go to work, and the human race'd be extinct by now since distrust between husband and wife and children would reach a whole new level. --Nonimportant 01:45, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

That...is...AMAZING!! And there isn't really maximum as long as people contribute. F.<話して~!!> 21:57, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

But programming has limits, I have put it to a maximum of 200 stories. You can paste them in groups, if they are more than that quantity... David 22:01, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

None of the archives will reayy have 200 articles, for the time being at least. So you can convert them all in one shot. F.<話して~!!> 22:12, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

My computer isn't running the program... Hm, it says the configuration of it is wrong... F.<話して~!!> 22:47, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

I don't know, I tried to download the file and run it, but it's saying it has faulty configuration. And I'm using Windows XP too. F.<話して~!!> 22:52, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

If you can test it on another computer, from an Internet room or something... Or tell Nonimportant or some user from here, I tested on my home on three computers and it works fine.

What does the exact error say, besides the faulty configuration? Maybe an error number? David 23:03, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

Never mind! It's fully functional now. F.<話して~!!> 23:09, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

Delete the third story, Sun of Zartha, while I check the error... Maybe it is a strange symbol or something... David 23:21, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

I found the error, I just had thought that featured articles had {{yes}} instead {{featurefic}}. It is fixed now, redownload

I found another, on 2084 story, my program does not understand multiple links, it only stands 1, so 2084 must have only one link for it to work. David 23:38, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

Yep. But it attributes all the stories as 25% done and by "unknown"... F.<話して~!!> 00:10, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

No worries about it. I'll just have to manually change those. F.<話して~!!> 00:13, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

Okay. And thanks. That saved me HOURS of time. F.<話して~!!> 01:03, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

Greetings Davichito,

My, I'll take it as a compliment that you thought it possible that everyone here was my sockpuppet. It speaks volumes about what you think I'm able to do, because it'd take a LOT of productive, unwavering diligence, smarts, and flexibility to pull off something like that, especially since everyone's styles are SO different when it comes to writing.

Thank you so much for having made a program to do the conversion. You have been a big help to the project. Oh, and if you have written it in either VB or Java, I would like to see the source code.

Cheers, YZHSig.png   16:51, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

Thanks. Actually, no Java was needed for such program. I used plain C with Windows API, not even C++ neither MFC. See:

// Structure to hold each story
typedef struct _story
{
   char szTitle[500];
   char szInfo[1024];
   char szFeatured[100]; // yes, no
   char szFanFic[500]; // Starcraft, nofanfic
   char szRated[30]; // yes, no
   char szSize[100];
} STORY;
STORY *story;

The actual parsing (the magic) is done with sscanf:

bConvert = sscanf(szWork,
 "| [[%[^]]]] || " // Title
 "[[Image:Info.png|16px|%[^]]]] " // Info
 "|| {{%[featureficno]}} || " // Featured
 "{{%[A-Za-z0-9., /!'?:;-_]}} || " // Fanfic
 "{{%[yesno]}} || " // Rated
 "%s", // Size
 story->szTitle,
 story->szInfo,
 story->szFeatured,
 story->szFanFic,
 story->szRated,
 story->szSize
);

The final conversion is done with a sprintf:

sprintf(szStory, "{{Work\r\n|rate={{%s}}"
          "|%%={{25%%}} |size=%s kb\r\n"
// etc...

The rest is Windows programming:

if(bError)
{
  int j;
  sprintf(szBogus,
          "Warning: %d-%d stories with errors",
          nErrors, i);
  SetWindowText(hwnd, szBogus);
  MessageBox(hwnd, szBogus, "Errors found, click OK to see",
    MB_OK | MB_ICONEXCLAMATION);
}

And of course, GetWindowText and SetWindowText to get and set the data from the textboxes. And button management in the DialogProc.
