Foundation and Aliens[edit | edit source]

Andrew Harlan and Noÿs Lambent put an end to Eternity.

The Foundation-Galaxia vortex.

With Eternity destroyed and Earth out of the time travel business, humanity turned its efforts towards interstellar space travel and successfully spread through the galaxy. R. Daneel Olivaw's 20,000 year social engineering project for humanity is culminating with the formation of a vast group mind, Galaxia, but that galaxy-wide human civilization now must have its strengths and weaknesses measured by confrontation with an alien culture. The story of that confrontation is told in The Start of Eternity, a sequel to Isaac Asimov's time travel novel, The End of Eternity. The Start of Eternity also provides a conclusion to Asimov's Foundation Series of novels.
