Questions:

1) Do you think that it is a good idea that, "All images must have a tag added stating which license they are under"? --JWSchmidt 01:06, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

Certainly. And there's a lot of articles needing such tags. --Yunzhong Hou 23:42, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

2) What is the difference between a "block" and a "ban"? What types of behavior warrant blocks and bans? --JWSchmidt 02:52, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

Users who spam, delete things without any reason, or otherwise ruin the wiki's system deserve to be blocked. And I don't think there's any difference between blocking and banning, since it amounts to the same thing. --169.157.9.51 17:29, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
A ban is a "social construct" and it does not by itself prevent a user or IP address from modifying content in a wiki, but it is often reinforced by a block, which is the technical term for preventing a user from modifying content in a wiki for a set duration of time. There are different types of blocking, such as range blocking, block timers, user blocks, IP address blocks, and blocking by technical means. In effect, the two generally occur together, though a ban is directed against a person, while a block is directed against a specific target (and hence more than one may be necessary). --Yunzhong Hou 21:30, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

3) Can someone tell me what the point of the Ultra Wikistory is? --Yunzhong Hou 20:40, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

4) Why is there so often a 505 Error when I try to move pages? --Yunzhong Hou 18:26, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

5) I'm not really sure where to post this: I wish to bring onto the agenda, fundamental concerns about collaborative writing for serious writers. -even of fanfic... To wit: Wiki are a crucial step forwards out of willful ignorance, by facilitating and encouraging ongoing editing and rewriting, criticism, faulting finding and improvement. BUT that is not enough, because some deficiencies are just too central to simply tweak and patch! Instead of simply initiating collaborative writing by posting initial drafts, a better creative starting point for better ideas and deeper process, is free discussion and speculation begining from scratch. Lastly, we must foster a respect for fundamentals of the writing craft and a flexible critical attitude.

--AaronAgassi Happy New Year!!

6) Ah... I have a list of general guides that someone posted, that I was going to link up here, but it doesn't seem to fit in well with anything I can find (at least, not without more than half an hour of looking for it - and if it takes more than half an hour to find a list of guides to help out, that seems to me to be unreasonably difficult to find :-)

So. I was wondering if there was a place where a list of links to various sections of help would be welcome - links to help, links to links of help, guides on writing, creating characters, etc, etc. It seemed a terrible waste to collate this list, and then not share it with people who might want to use it... -- llearch 23:47, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

I always receive this message:

You have new messages (last change).

I click on new messages, but it appears everytime. An error? What can I do?

Wow, I have no idea how to resolve this. Maybe you should be asking Angela about this on Wikia central. YZHSig   22:36, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
