Are we allowed to copy the wiki markup for templates like this one from wikipedia, or would that be against the rules? and are we allowed to include such things on our user pages? --Modred 20:14, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

What markup,and what rules?Serprex 20:16, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

I'm not sure what rules it would be braking, I just haven't seen any of these around on here... and wasn't there a link to the Wikipedia Template:User Borg in my post before?... I guess I forgot to add it... these two templates and one other I haven't found yet are what I would like to add: (the following were taken from wikipedia templates, Template:User Cash, Template:User Borg, )

CASH
This user shot a man in Reno just to watch him die.
This user has been assimilated by the Borg.
Resistance is futile.

User boxes would be a nice addition to the site, but it would only become effective with far more contributors.

Seems redundant and the links are broken, but I don't see any reason to freak over it.Serprex 20:33, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

Copying between sites that use the GNU Free Documentation License (such as Wikipedia and Novelas) is okay when credited. Formally, the GFDL requires a "History" section when one document is a derivate work of another, but I normally ignore this when copying small templates. Instead, I leave a link (like Template:User Cash or Wikipedia:Template:User Cash) in the edit summary or in a <noinclude>...</noinclude> part of the template, so that other users can find the original template again; they might want to copy a newer version. Over at nethack.wikia, I used the Wikihack:Templates page to document that, for example, Template:Tl was copied from Wikibooks. --Kernigh 03:00, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

I think we should be allowed to use the userboxes from Wikipedia. Wikipedia is also Wikia as is Novelas; so the same rules should apply. Basically, to avoid piracy charges, people who wish to use userboxes should cite it from where they got it. --Lacrymosa 01:11, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

Fine with me. But it may be a bit difficult to import them all. YZHSig   01:23, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
