I disagree. One thing is a romantic description, another one is one about sex. What can a sexual description teach but lust? Then Playboy site is educational!? Or those sites about bondage? About the part about censorship, if in the future more things are requested to be censored, we will do it in the future and by consensus. Nobody is trying and nobody can impose views on a wiki. Every policy is decided by consensus. Besides, Wikia does not allow porn, it's official policy. If we allow it, we would be against Wikia policies. It's a case for a speedy deletion, I think. There was a case about this before but I forgot the link. It was a porn story and it was deleted and nobody complained in the past. --[[User:Davichito|David]] - [[User_talk:Davichito|talk]] 18:00, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

Forums: Index > Chat > Should sex be allowed on Wiki?

Should sexual content be allowed and promoted on Wiki? I find it to be very disturbing. I am a Christian and don't care for that sort of thing. Please say what your vote is or if you have any other comments on the subject.--God'sGirl94 02:16, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

Romantic literature is very popular. Christians from the Bible Belt of the United States should not try and impose their views onto the rest of America and the rest of the world. Responsible fiction about sex and relationships can help readers recognise when a relationship is wrong. Readers can then hopefully avoid bad relationships before a bad marriage happens rather than getting divorced afterwards. Do we need to review sexual material here to ensure i'ts responsible?

I'm an ordinary user here and I don't speak for anyone except myself. There is a great deal of very explicit sexual material on the Internet which is very much a minority taste. I haven't found it here but I haven't looked. There is a case for censoring the worst material but we should consider carefully before introducing censorship. Censoring sexual material could easily be the thin end of the wedge. Later Bible Belt Christians may try and censor material that they think isn't Christian they way they see Christianity. We are a fiction website and we don't promote American Republican Christianity or any such viewpoint. Proxima Centauri 11:44, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

I know that some Christians will do this sort of thing, but I doubt that many will promote it. Sex is a beautiful thing if used right. God gave men and women special things to do this with as husband and wife. That is a private concept. If it is promoted, at least don't give too many details because I am sure that there are many users on here that agree with me.God'sGirl94 15:59, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

Perhaps you can go back and write a bit more on your stories, God'sGirl94. I don't want you to drive some of our talented writers away by criticizing the way they write about sex. We're a Wiki that follows free speech and allows expression for many different talents. If sex is God's gift why is it so hard to control the sex drive outside marriage? A caring God wouldn't have made his "gift" so those who want to use it the way the Bible says lose control so easily. Please write your stories and leave us to write ours. Let's discuss the issue of sex in stories and bring God or religion out of this discussion, else we will get nowhere. Religion has nothing to do with this. I could be an atheist and still dislike porn in stories. And I know that nobody will be scared away if we don't allow sex in stories and I don't know who is the "talented writer" you are talking about (I hope it's not me, I am just a random writer). Obviously, a talented writer will not run, if it's a policy, he will accept it. There are several themes on stories besides porn. We are not discussing about romantic content but explicit description of sex, which is different. A rule of thumb could be not allowing content that would be porn if it were a picture or a video clip. Like that thing I wrote which was more for a porn site than a fiction site. We have to realize that this site may be read by kids too. And read by people who don't like porn, obviously. Not all of us can stand it. And, anyway, if I got to this site and found a story such as the one I wrote, I would never write in here. Allowing porn would clearly scare away writers, talented or not. This is a site about fiction, not about vulgarity.

I was the one who wrote it and I did not like it so I removed it. I did not feel compelled by anybody. It was an experiment. When you two stop mentioning God or religion, maybe more people can comment about this. The title of the forum is not God, it's sex. --David - talk 17:18, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

There is nudity content on this wikia. Check VirileMail/9#Virile_Male, Cellular Civilization: Andresklo and The_search_for_Kalid/12#Moon_Base and other stories by author Fything that I don't remember the name. So, what we decide must affect all stories. --David - talk 17:34, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
